HOW TO: Radius Metal Fascia Measuring
This video was put together to take some of the intimidation out of the process for a radius trim and show a step-by-step approach to keep the measuring process simple and accurate.
Curved or radius work in general is always a challenge, regardless of material. In this case it was especially challenging since the material used was painted steel.
The first step I go over in the video is to decide which trim design or profile best fits the situation. In this particular case, I was asked by a contractor in Montana to walk them through the steps required to help them perform the best solution possible based on the job site information provided. We go through the process of generating a template and transferring that information to the piece of metal so that we can begin forming a radius fascia.
The tools and techniques can be used with any light gauge material. Zinc, copper, aluminum (painted or unpainted), galvalume, painted steel (24 gauge max).
